My husband is currently waiting on confirmation of a job at ATS (Boeing). If it all goes through, and I hope it does, our three kids and I will follow him out there from Arizona. We are planning on renting for a few years at first. Any suggestions for a safe and friendly place to settle in?

Congrats on the job. I'd try to ask some co-workers if you know them. My Everett mojo is lacking. In general, it's cheaper than Seattle, but also not as nice. There are some parts to watch out for. You can always contact a real estate agent and ask for input.

In that area, Mukilteo and Snohomish have the better school districts and are generally nicer (and more ritzy) than Everett.

Everett does have it's nice areas but also some that are scary. Stay away from the big apartment complexes on Casino Rd!

Look in the adjoining areas, the western part of Edmonds is nice and an easy commute up Highway 99, but also Sonhomish and even Monroe are not too far.

If you have kids I would look at these areas ( I listed zip codes):

Mill Creek -98012
Snohomish- 98296
Everett-98208
Lake Stevens-98258

Mukilteo is nice and there are some decent parts of Marysville.

Did you decide on a place yet? I'm renting out a condo in a beautiful safe neighborhood.
