you can usually pick up very cheap places there, as folks get the idea it would be nice, and then realize the trouble and expense of a beach house. BUT... there are also a lot of lookers thinking this way, so... the realtors and property managers are the only ones who make out.

Default Long Beach is RUDE, RUDE, RUDE.

I'm not surprised anymore about all the vacant real estate in LB. Just returned from several days on vacation on the peninsula & found that this town needs a lesson in customer service! I know they say that beach time is slower than city time but there is no excuse for taking your own sweet time & being rude about it.
The local teenagers have absolutely nothing to do but hang around & the ones that do work are the rudest, most insolent kids ever, (Scooper's).
WAKE-UP city leaders, there's not a for sale sign in the windows of 80% of the businesses for nothing.

I have to agree with Dre. The people are rude and the buildings are run down. There's a reason no one wants to be there. A better bet is to buy a home inland and go visit the beach of your choice. This way you will have the convenience of going to the beach without all the upkeep and trouble of living in a crappy town.
