Closer to Selah. I think it's the third one from it.

Actually I love the views going into Selah and going into Ellensburg, it's just the area in between.

I did that drive everyday for about three months. It did get boring after a while and on windy days I had to fight for control of my car. The wind was hurricane like sometimes! I didn't always have time to enjoy the few nice views.

Highway 26 east of Washtucna isn't boring to me, but I'm interested in geology, among other things. From the Whitman County line to Washtucna that highway follows one of the outflow channels from the Lake Missoula flood. The change in character in the landforms right at the county line is striking.
Once you climb out of that channel immediately west of Washtucna, then it's boring from there through Othello and then to the next county line, in the vicinity of Crab Creek. The geology gets interesting there again, and there are (in season) a lot of migratory birds in that vicinity.
Highway 24 from Yakima to Othello is dull, with one minor point of interest along the way: you can look out to the Hanford B Reactor from the highway as it climbs the ridge after your cross the Columbia.
I-90 between the Columbia Gorge to Moses Lake tends to put me to sleep.

I think ANY road in Eastern Washington is a great drive, if you take the time to look around you. Such interesting topography. If you read up on the geological history and then look for the formations, it is quite interesting.
To me, a Western Washington resident, there is nothing more boring than the stretch of I-5 between Tacoma and Centralia!!!

100% agreement!
Hwy 20 from Concrete to Okanogan has got to be one of the best drives in the world.
Anywhere on I-5 has got to be the worst.

Yeah I too hate the drive from Olympia and Aberdeen. That's the most boring part of Western Washington - and just about the only place where you can't see any mountains.
LOVE the drive up through the coulees from Soap Lake.

For highway, I'd have to say Hwy 9 between Maltby and Arlington. It's going to be just like 99 in 20 years, and it's already halfway there. For interstate, I'd say I-5 between Olympia and Centralia.
