It's not exactly what I'd call a hike, as it's less than 2 miles long, but, yes, I've been in Ape Cave many times. For the most part, it's fairly open with a sandy floor. Bring flashlights, extra batteries, water and a warm jacket, no matter how hot it is outside.

It may only be a 2 mile hike, but don't forget the hike back to the care. It doesn't seem like far, but you'll be sore when you are done. It's flat in a lot of places, but there is a lot of climbing too. Don't forget the 10 foot wall that need scaled.

Definitely bring flashlights, water and a coat or sweatshirt.

The hike inside the caves is fun and if you are into science/nature at all - you'll learn a lot. The hike back to the car is beautiful. Breathtaking.

Great hike.
Others have said to bring flashlights, I suggest a lantern. Flashlights barely break the darkness down there.
