I'm returning to Washington state after living abroad of several years in a couple of weeks. I live in South Korea at the moment and I'd like to spend a couple weeks back packing up the coast of Washington enjoy the scenery a bit.

As I'm going to be backpacking I need to find out the easiest way to get from Seattle to Aberdeen by bus. I'm fine with using local buses to make connections and rather try to avoid a costly hire of a private van at the Sea Tac Airport.

Any suggestions?

I think we had this exact same scenario in another thread ...let me see if I can look it up.

You can take Sound Transit (soundtransit.org) to get from Sea Tac to Tacoma Dome; Then Pierce Transit from Tacoma Dome to Olympia Transit Center; then grays harbor transit (ghtransit.com) from Olympia Transit Center to Aberdeen. I think it would take you all day.

Good luck!

I'll try to post the details later but I think it was taking the Greyhound to Olympia and then taking the Grays Harbor transit bus to Aberdeen.

I think Greyhound has 5 daily trips to Olympia from Seattle and Grays Harbor Transit has 6 daily trips from Olympia to Aberdeen.

I never thought of that, but the Greyhound doesn't pick up at Sea Tac does it? So you'd have to get a bus to the Greyhound bus terminal... kind of backtracking.

But I don't know much about Greyhound.

Your going to need at least 4.5 to 5 hour time to rid buses from the Sea-Tac 574 to SR512 Lakewood station and then either take the 601,603 or 603A to the state capital station and then catch the bus 40 to Aberdeen, WA. **Warning** don’t leave your backpack/belonging not on your person at Sea-Tac or at SR512 Lakewood station as someone will probably walk away with them. You don’t want to have to spend time down town Seattle in a homeless shelter trying to get money wired to you from love ones elsewhere. You also don’t want to take the 574 to the SR512 Lakewood park in ride after 7:00/8:00PM 7days a weeks as the drug addicts start coming out and swarming around. Better to save cash a sleep in the airport and start your journey early in the mourning. Just a thought. Also when you began your walks in the woods in Grays Harbor at your lodging give details of where your going on paper to be filed with lodge and verbally tell front dest person of your trekking plans as if you get hurt/lost some one can find you.

Hope this helps. Remember to pick up the “Pierce Transit Routes & Schedules” booklet at the Olympia Transit Center and Grays Harbor Transit Schedule at the Aberdeen Bus station or Hoquiam bus station. The cost is around $8.00 from Sea-Tac to Aberdeen, WA. Not a bad cost for the trip. Good luck.

scirocco22: I posted there pretty much what I posted here. The person will be fine if they start their journey early in the mourning from Sea-Tac Airport in Seattle, WA to Aberdeen, WA on the buses and times provided from bus schedules.
