Default What's it like in Everett?

What' s it like? Are you happy there? Is the city dirty or kept up?

I don't go TO Everett, but go through it on I-5 pretty regularly
(not the commute, thank God) but even at non-commute times the highway it a mess. Part of it is that they are doing major freeway additions/reconstruction and hopefully things will be better eventually.

I'm sure there must be really nice areas, but I've not seen them yet. One time I did get lost there, and it was not a pleasant experience...

Everett is like most other urban suburbs; there are great and beautiful areas as well as areas that are less so. For the most part it is green and very pretty. Housing is a bit more affordable, as long as you aren't looking for waterfront, than Seattle. Good luck.

North East Everett is scary. North West has some very nice homes, but it's too close to North East Everett for my comfort, so I'd avoid North Everett all together (North of 41st). Central Everett (41st thru the Boeing Freeway) is better, but still kind of dirty. There are some nice pockets in Central East and Central West Everett (further away from highway 99 the better it gets). South Everett is the best overall area of Everett. (South of the Boeing freeway all the way to Lynnwood. I hope this helps.

South Everett is the best??? I always thought that was a big crime area with a lot of gang activity.

South Everett is a hole. Once you cross over I-5 from Mill Creek you are in crime land. Look up the stats. It is not a nice place at all.

You really think North Everett is better than South Everett? Sure Casino Road is scary, but it's on the edge of South Everett. The projects are in North Everett. I stand by my opinion.

Default Everett is OK!

We moved here 9 years ago, and live in "south" Everett between 41st and Casino Rd. We live in a very nice neighborhood cul-de-sac, kid friendly, close to beautiful Forest Park. The city has undergone some major changes, for the positive, in the last few years. Smokestacks are gone pretty much, there is much more focus on community and events that support it. The Parks & Rec Dept. is awesome, there is a nice community college, and the downtown is turning itself around. There are areas of more crime, as in any city. Certain parts of north Everett, Casino Rd West, and a triangle bordered by 112th, Evergreen Way, near Jackson High School. There are also some apt. areas south of the mall that have seen some violence.

We have really enjoyed it here ~ it's a nice piece of real estate, bordered by the Sound, Snohomish River, and the estuary. On a nice day you can see Mt. Baker to the north, Rainier to the south, Cascade Mtns to the east, and Olympics to the west. Let's hope they continue to treat it right!

Good luck with your decision,

Terry Lee
