I've been checking out some properties in Grays Harbor County, looking for a place to live after retirement. So far most of the places I've looked at have been in Aberdeen, but one came up just recently in Hoquiam, and as I was looking something up at the City of Hoquiam website it seemed to me that what I might call the "flavor" of their website was quite different from Aberdeen's. That made me wonder if maybe they aren't as similar as one might expect, given their location right next to each other.

So, are Hoquiam and Aberdeen pretty much the same, or is each one distinctive? What (if anything) is different between the two cities?

Hoquiam is the "other side of the tracks" to Aberdeen.

Or in this case, the other side of the river.

Even though Hoquiam is an independent city, it is really just a section of Aberdeen with a lot of skinny, toothless, unemployed people.

Aberdeen and Hoquiam are the same. Both have good parts and both have plenty of awful parts. The hills are the nicest parts while the low lying areas are the worst.
