Default Verizon Cell Phone Coverage

I'm planning a trip to Seattle and on north probably up to Vancouver and maybe over to North Cascades National Park and want to stay in touch with family. Can anyone tell me what kind of cell phone coverage Verizon has there?

Verizon has excellent coverage in western Washington. It has digital coverage all the way through the highway 20 corridor over the north Cascades.

I find that its great on most highways in this state... once you get off the beaten path it can be spotty, but I have been through 3 different carriers and Verizon is the best in WA.

Nextel works best in my region, but I have Verizon as it is a 'family plan'. It is terrible on "Verizon to Verizon" connection (full digital) but still works on analog in remote areas outside of Verizon network, for 6 more months ... then analog support goes away.

I traveled up there last year with 4 different phones and Verizon worked best. Make sure you enable "International" or "Canada" access on your account. With the normal AC plan you'll pay .69/minute roaming charges in Canada, but the phone will work perfectly.

Cingular/AT&T is the best I could find in this state.

I had Verizon first and when I would go off of the main I-5 corridor I would lose coverage. Also, when I would visit family in Yakima, I would lose coverage. Not good for a small Blonde if something were to happen to my car.

I've been all over the state and to Oklahoma and back with my Cingular/AT&T and it works great! I definitely won't go back to verizon.

Ok, the OP evidently hasn't checked back but her question was how good Verizon coverage is in a specific area. It doesn't sound like she wants advice on what carrier is the best as it sounds as if she already has Verizon and wants to know how coverage is in the places she's going to be.

Please keep the discussion on topic. Thanks

As was reported previously, Verizon does have digital coverage across the North Cascades highway corridor.

lilscout, when was that?
I have Verizon and the worst it gets is in Selah, where I live. Otherwise, it's bars up the ying. I vacationed in Grayland w/family, some of which has ATT. We had signals, they did not. Can't speak to Vancouver, but if I can get a call out from BFE Grayland, I'm pretty confident with big ol' Vancouver.

Default Verizon Phone Coverage in Washington

Thanks for all the good information. As our trip gets closer, it looks like most of it will be in Washington, with only a couple days up in Canada, so the responses have been especially helpful. I do already have Verizon and wasn't sure how good it would be there. Thanks all.
