It's the same as saying, "It's okay," or "That's alright, don't worry about it." I say it all the time with complete sincerity. Must be a generational thing...

Short 'e' sound as in get, bend, friend, send, Kent, et cetera, etc.

Oh, I know what it means. It's just one of those phrases that rubs me the wrong way....Just can't explain it.

Default Strange WA sayings...

As a fairly new transplant to WA we have only noticed two things: 1) everyone's vehicle is referred to as their "rig". It can be a Volkswagon, a F150 or a Jeep and it's called a "rig". I have also heard the word (well, it's not really a word but...) "tooken" be used. Example, "I tooken and told him to go to the store."

I have never heard anyone say "tooken." Honestly, I still don't know what it means after reading your sentence. Can you explain how it's used more?

Are you in Eastern WA? "Rig" is a big part of the lexicon in/around Spokane.

What does everyone here call the big flat boat that carries cars across bodies of water?

Is it s fairy-boat or a furry-boat? If you're from Washington, I'm guessing you use the former pronunciation.

Am I right?

Default Rigs and Tooken

Sobefobik and David.... I am on the coast and the majority of the people here use the term "rig" for their vehicle. And as far as "tooken", it's just a word/phrase that is dropped into some of the conversation I have heard. I can't think of any other examples at the moment other than the one I mentioned above, "I tooken and told......"

I've never heard anyone say "tooken", but it sounds akin to how they say "fixin to" in the south.

I laughed out loud when I read this. I'm from Texas and I have a friend that was born and raised in the Tacoma area. When he first said bag, I was like huh? Sounded like beg. lol

By the way...Texans are the ones that say 'Warshinton'.

Also...I wasn't born in WA, but I got here as fast as I could! Love the NW!
