Interested in info about the Colville area. Weather, crime, good stuff as well as bad. Would love to hear some input.

Weather - cold in winter, hot in summer.
Crime - haven't experienced to any of it there before. I'd have to say it was low. It's a rural area and the biggest store is a super walmart that folks from Canada make their way down from to buy stuff because it's so much cheaper.
Great area for outdoorsy hunter/fishing types for sure. The town markets itself in that direction due to all the parks and areas north of the area (reminds me of BC Canada going up to Whistler - really beautiful).
I looked at living there myself several times, but it didn't work out.
Here's a post that might contain more info about it

To get to Seattle from Colville in the dead of winter when the cascade routes are closed, you have to go down towards Wenatchee / Roslyn etc and through the pass on the interstate. Right? 7 hr drive? thanks

just curious what you'd need to go to Seattle for in the winter - is it work related or just things you like to do? For living in Spokane, Seattle doesn't seem to be an option for anything except occasional entertainment purposes.

We have just moved to Colville from Alaska. If I were you I'd have to ask myself WHY would I want to move to Colville? If it is for economic opportunities.. Don't come. If it is for beautiful country, low crime, inexpensive housing, low incomes and few job opportunities, Come.. We are retiring to the area and won't be seeking high paying jobs.. there aren't any to speak of. The people are nice, the surroundings are beautiful, the seasons are easy to take. They warned us of hard winter.. coming from Alaska we almost chuckle.. the summers are hotter than we are used to though.. but we welcome them too.. You can see our ranch at Removed

You will love Colville Washington. I lived there for 5 years, and will be moving back one day soon. Its is very clean, the people are extremely friendly, and there is no end to the outdoor activities there. It is nestled between two mountain ranges, the Selkirk and Kettle ranges, and the scenry is beautiful. The population is at 5000, and to me, traffic is nonexistent, compared to where I live now. You will very much enjoy driving around in the mountains, and the wildlife is unblieveable. You picked the right place to move to.
