I'm a single male officer in my mid-20s new to McChord ... I've been here for about a week and looking for a condo to buy. I'm looking for any advice on places to live that are close (or easily accesible to) a good singles nightlife. Does that exist around here? People I work with have recommended DuPont to live (not for night-life of course but for proximity to the base), and others have mentioned the "revitalization" of downtown Tacoma for bars, etc. I've noticed that there are some small universities around here also (St. Martin's, UPS and some others) ... basically just wondering what to expect in regards to night life and any advice on places to live. Thanks!

Hi and welcome to McChord.
Unless you plan to party at any of the Ft. Lewis clubs, Dupont is not what you're looking for if you want to be near night-life spots. Saint Martin University is a Catholic school in Lacey that does not attract bars and clubs. I would recommend down-town Tacoma. There have been quite a few condo projects that have gone up in and around the down-town district. Your commute to the air base would be about 20 minutes. Good Luck! Sandy |
