Yes, here's my recommendation. Under no circumstances what so ever, ever move to Oregon or Washington sight unseen. Especially if you're a sun worshipper in any way or prefer temps to be 80+ as often as possible.

DO come visit the Pacific Northwest in Early Fall to Late Spring and ask yourself if you can deal with weeks and months of that type of weather with few sun breaks.

Colorado might have the mix of pine trees/four seasons the OP is looking for. I'm basically in the same boat, fleeing from the unrelenting sun, but I know what I'm getting into.

Basically anywhere in CO that has natural green trees is in the mountains and doesn't have much of all 4 seasons (one of the four dominates).

Within WA, Spokane and places north and east of there into ID, fit the concept the OP describes.

When are you moving to Spokane? You know you want to!

Step 1: Get fired.
Step 2: Convince the wife it's the right thing to do at that point.
Step 3: Enjoy!

Sabotage! An inside job! I think she's going to be suspicious when you don't sound at all bummed about it.

Haha, I think she knows me too well. I'll just have to make it sound like it didn't come out of left field.

David, I fled the Inland Empire, moved to the Sequim area and haven't regretted one bit! It helps to be retired or have your own business unless you like working at big box stores for low wages. Sequim could use more vehicle repair shops and skilled handymen in my opinion.
