Default Sequim, WA -- Need info on Assisted (Financial) Living.

Hello,

I've read many threads about Sequim and was wondering if anyone has any information on Assisted Living there. My mother-in-law is currently using assisted living for financial purposes in the Midwest; is over 55; is on a fixed income; and is fairly independent as she does not need nursing. Can anyone shed any light on any programs for those retired on a fixed income not needing nursing care? What are some sample housing costs? And is buying there a more practical approach these days (since not all areas of the country are seeing a decline in prices)?

Many thanks to all that respond. I've never visited, but it seems that entire area around Washington is rather beautiful. Mainly, my mother-in-law wants to be near her son in the west. Any answers to the aforementioned questions pertaining to the surrounding areas of Sequim is great too!

The "Sequim-Dungeness Chamber of Commerce" website (just search on that title) has a link where you can request a Relocation Guide. They'll mail you all kinds of information on housing in the area, as well as about the town itself.

Sequim is pretty much a retirement community. There are 55 and over modular home
parks where you can find a home to buy at about 100.000 more or less. There is senior
apartments for lower incomes in town. Try googling Sequim sunland windermere for prices on real estate.
Though I am not of the senior set yet, there is alot of activities in town to choose from to get to know people. Good Luck!

Thanks for your replies, everyone. Yes, TribalCat, I had the chamber send some information to my mother-in-law and hopefully she'll find some numbers that can steer her in the right direction. RJ, I asked her about modular homes and, though I've been surprised to see the quality in many of the more modern homes, she's a bit sketchy about the whole lease/rent space thing. One never knows when a developer comes in to buy out an modular home park and force her to uproot to look for another spot to drop the home. I did contact a few places, however, and they should be sending some info soon on assisted living.

The Sequim Chamber of Commerce is great about sending info out. Even after my initial package from them, I'm still getting a lot of real estate info in the mail.
