I am considering renting a house in Nisqually Pines in Yelm. I've heard different information about the community. Does anyone know the history and what it's like today? Is there still a drug/crime problem? What are the residents like? Are the HOA rules strictly enforced? Can you walk dogs without a leash? Thanks for any help!

All I can say is that I would never choose to live in where there were HOA rules. It's MY house and I can do what I want is my attitude. Keep looking....

From what I understand it is getting cleaned up, that being said, I have been through the area a few times and Ipersoanlly would only live there if I had to but that is me. I was looking to buy a place and make it a rental unit. GO drive through it and check it out. Also talk to the lacey, or Thirston county Sherrifs. They should know... However it does have good access to I5, Yelm (casino). |

Thanks for the feedback on Nisqually Pines. I talked to a few people, one had recently moved out of the neighborhood. A lot of people said it was different than it had been. There've been some positive changes. I'm still looking at all neighborhoods. Thanks again for the feedback.

They're reasonable on their HOA. They didn't enforce the rules for a long time and for a while it started to show. I heard they hired someone to take care of it all. They must have because it's looking much better now.

Take it from the birds mouth. I lived there for 12 years growing up. It was the worst place ever then with all of the drugs and crime. Yes that generation grew up, and now it is all meth labs in there, with yes little crime, but still alot of drugs. I moved out of there when i was 16, and then moved back in there when i was 23 again to rent a house "belive me it was the last option". Still a very bad place, same as above, and the rules in there are very bad, they pick favorites and if they dont like you they will find anyway they can to send u a ticket in the mail. Especially if you look like you may have money, because they are so broke and ugly, they will ticket you if they even see your dog off a leash in ur own driveway. I got 4 tickets living there and they take pictures everytime they see ur dog, even like i said if its in ur driveway without a leash. I would not move there if i were you, very bad option! and the drinking water is not treated, it taste like bleach
