Default Lake Stevens to Everett commute

Hi there-
We live in Mukilteo and drive just 8 minutes to work near Boeing. We're considering a move over by Lake Stevens or the Machias area for more space/acreage. Does anyone have first hand experience in the commute coming onto the trestle from 20th st? We would need to be near Boeing by 8:40am- what time would we need to leave to get there on time?

Thanks-
cb

Not nice. I would recommend that since you live close, take the commute one day. I don't cross there but see the effect of what it is. The afternoon commute can be dreadful from the Boeing access road to the exit for Huwett. Fridays are the worst of all, getting bad after 2:00.

All of that assuming no accident.

Assume a commute of about 30 minutes, but there is a big difference between Lake Stevens and Machias.

Best of lucki.

If you are really serious about moving out here. . . yes take a drive from Frontier Village on a Tuesday Morning when it's raining. At times it will take 30 minutes just to get from Hwy 9 to I-5. I commute from Machias to Moutlake Terrace Daily. I spend 2.5 hours a day in my car to drive 54 miles roundtrip. The Traffic has steadily gotten worse over the past 5 years and there is NO relief in view. If you don't want to spend an hour getting home (really sucks in winter when you leave in the dark and get home in the dark) just about EVERY DAY. I have horses or else i'd move back towards my work.
You may want to check out north bothell / Clearview (not Maltby) as there are still some good properties out there and they aren't as bad as the Lake Stevens commute. I have friends that moved to Arlington to escape the dreaded Hewitt Avenue Trestle. Or go online to the WA DOT site and view the cameras every morning! You'll see what we up here already deal with.
But it's a lovely area, don't get me wrong. Just be forwarned, the Traffic can suck.

Smile Lake Stevens to Everett commute

Thanks for the replies about commuting over the trestle. I've had mixed responses so I guess I'll take the great advice of driving it myself. Sounds like rain is the big slow down. You would think we would be used to rain around here!

Thanks again-

Cbeas takes the wise path of self discovery. Very smart.

Whatever happened to the promise of the flying car! You would think that at boeing that would be an easy solution!

Depending where you decide to locate, once you near the tresle, then it can still take a 1/2 hour to get to I-5 at times. Then add the commute time TO the tresle from either lake stevens or machias. The outskirts of the towns won't be bad, it will just be when everyone approaches highway 2 from all different locations that it will bottleneck. I grew up in snohomish/monroe and it took 30 min with NO traffic, up to an hour with.

How about South Whidbey instead of Machias?? You can leave your car in Clinton and bus up to Boeing...
