Can someone explain beach camping in Washington (state parks)? (Long Beach: places, reservation)

I'm confused on how to do beach camping at the state parks campgrounds in Washington & Oregon. Hoping someone can explain.

When I look online, for example, Cape Disappointment State Park, it shows nothing is available for this weekend. Actually, it showed nothing was available when I looked way back in April. Does this mean that one cannot go camping there unless they make a reservation 6 months in advance? Do they have first come first serve spots?

You can use the search page at Search for Park by Features to find out what is available first-come first-served. If you search on "camping: all types" you'll see the campgrounds with first-come first-served spaces along with reservable spaces.

You can also call (888) 226-7788 to talk to someone in person to find out how many spaces at a particular site are first-come. Keep in mind that reservations for the coastal campgrounds fill up quickly, so they are in high demand.

Other places you might consider are it Ilwaco /Long Beach KOA, Fort Stevens in Oregon, and Kalaloch in Olympic National Park.
