Olympia? Or suggestions on other "artsy" areas?
If I may jump in here, I have a question of my own. Hopefully my question can help someone else. I am job hunting and many jobs in my area are located in the Olympia area. I've lived in northern Europe, so I know about rain and short winter days, just to say in advance. Also, my kids are starting college, so schools are not a concern for me.
My income range for jobs in my area looks to be around the median for the area. The sort of places I'm used to and comfortable living in are ones near museums, small shops, coffee shops, used bookstores, a farmer's market, bicycle friendly with mass transit close by. I do not like suburban communities, generally, but I wonder if I can afford what I do like. Driving is not my favorite activity. I am not religious. I'd like to be able to easily take continuing ed classes in pottery or some such and be able to attend musical events... world music, alternative rock/folk, old blues artists, etc.
soooo, can you all give me information about various places that meet at least a few of those preferences? Thank you for any information.
