Default Naval Air means lots of noise?

We are looking at retirement in Coupeville WA. I am concerned about noise and frequent fly-overs from the Navel Air Station on Whidbey. No one has mentioned this matter. Is it a consideration, or not?

Shouldn't be much of a concern. Parts of Oak Harbor get the noise from NAS Whidbey, but I've been to Coupeville a lot, and it was quiet.

There is a sign just outside the airbase gate. It reads "Excuse our noise, it is the sound of freedom".

It all depends on where you live. Noise is a HUGE problem in some parts of Coupeville. If you are near the "path" of the outlying field in Coupeville, south of town, you will have noise when they are doing their touch and go's. You will need to sign a disclosure when you buy (or maybe rent?) your house stating you have been notified of this. They don't run constantly, but they run all year and night and day..for the experience, but like I mentioned, it isn't 24/7. My brother in law lives in the flight path, and when the jets are going, he wears ear protection while he is working outside. People make an educated decision when choosing their home...what bothers one might not bother another.

We live in Freeland..only planes we hear are the occasional sea plane, so it just really depends on your location.
