I spent a winter living in an RV in Oregon and loved the simple lifestyle. Not much housework to deal with either. If you can handle being in a small space, and don't need to be surrounded by a lot of possessions, you should be fine. One warning - be prepared for condensation in the winter. Nothing you can't handle but get yourself a good dehumidifier and keep your rig adequately vented.

Default RV living

When I was a kid, for about 2 years we lived in an RV, 3 kids and 3 adults. It was crowded ,but we lived in Texas so we were able to stay outside most of the day. The first year or so we lived in a State park that was very nice (paid by the week), imagine vacation for a year! We even rode the bus that came in to pick up the ranger's kids to school. After that we moved to a small piece of property with a small 1 bedroom cabin, but still lived in the RV as it had plumbing and just spend the days in the cabin. I had the bunk over the driver's area and kept my few meager belongings there.

I am nearly seven feet tall, so there is no way I would buy one for travelling. My idea of roughing it is the QUEEN bed at the Hyatt. However, I do own a fifth wheel as a contingency for disaster preparedness, should all utilities be lost and I must generate my own power and water sources.

I did travel quite a bit with my parents in an RV when I was between 7 and 17, with fond memories until I started getting taller. At that point, when I couldn't uncross my knees to use the toilet, the fun was over. But in a pinch (no pun intended), my fifth wheel is ready for use.

Not sure where in WA you wanted to be. We're in Port Angeles area and I know there are several RV parks around. Here is a list of them in our area: rv parks in port angeles - Yahoo! Search Results

My cousin has been RV'ing around the country for a few years. He finally ended up outside of Billings, MT. He bought ten acres that used to have a mobile home on it. It had a garage and hookups and septic tank. So you might consider doing that. But land is expensive in Western WA, you might consider E. WA. When we decided to retire away from Seattle, we went everywhere on the Western side of WA until we found what both of us wanted. I'm sure, if something happened to my husband, I would end up moving out of here, but hopefully nothing happens for a very long time!
