Hi everyone.

My company is looking to shoot a movie anywhere in WA, starting Mid-December. Being the "evergreen state", we are attracted to the fact that there are still many green trees during winter time (which we need), however, we're wondering which areas contain the most of them during Dec/Jan.

Particularly, we need areas without much snowfall. We were thinking Seattle, but also wondering about the less obvious choices. Would be great to hear from locals.

Thanks in advance!

Seattle gets very little snow, most of the snow in the Puget Sound area is over 500' and that's the eastside and Cascade foothills, Issaquah, Sammamish, North Bend, Maple Valley. We do have a lot of deciduous trees like maples and alder that lose there leaves but there are many more firs and cedars that stay green all year. Typically the greenest areas will get the most snow but in these cities it still may only be 2-3 times a year. There are many other factors to consider in relocating a business, such as rent, utilities, and the Business & Occupation Tax. The state tax is bad enough but some cities such as Bellevue and Seattle will add their own B & O tax, and they are based on gross sales, not profit.

Thanks for the suggestions and advice, Hemlock.

eidas: We're looking for a suburban area; neighborhoods, as well as highway scenery. It's a story that starts out in suburbia and ultimately becomes a road film.

Make sure you understand how dim the light is around here in mid-December. There are only about 8 hours of daylight, and if there are the typical low clouds it never really gets that bright during the day. It starts feeling dark by 4:30 or so around the solstice.

Of course, if that's what you're going for it's perfect.
