Default Orange dirt near Tonasket?

I know this is a strange question, but I was wondering if anybody knows what the large mass of orange-colored dirt just to the west of Tonasket is. It can be easily seen on Google Earth from a far distance; it is the only spot like it in the northwest, if not the entire country.

That's just Google Earth.
It's Google perhaps giving color to a heat signature perhaps?
It's apple orchard, sage and grass.

I live in Tonasket and I don't think Google has upgraded anything here.
