80% Property Tax Increase... Loosing my Home? (Seattle, Tacoma: calculated, wages, exemptions)

California taxes you badly in sales tax and income tax. Washington does property tax and sales tax. Washington's system prevents big land owners from retaining huge tracts of land. California's system has built a massive slum lord system over their property structure. Live in the Metro Area Proper in Washington and your taxes will go up correlated to your wage. Live just outside of it and expect rapid changes. Live in the country if you are on a fixed income. Washington has never been an Old Person friendly state its a working class state. Most of the residents go to Arizona or Florida when they are older.

I AM JUST LOOKIN FOR A PLACE FOR SECLUSION, NO TRAFFIC, NO NEIGHBORS OR AT LEAST I DON'T HAVE TO SEE THEM, OPEN SPACE BUT WITH PRIVACY.

old person?? YIKES... retired (via outsourcing) at 49, I'm feeling pretty crusty , but never intend to return to workforce... Had 3 jobs since I was age 15, so about 100 yrs worth in the trenches, I'm done for now... I like going to school and volunteering much better than working.

If I recall people are only moving out of Mass. and New York as of recent. If you want seclusion, no traffic, and an area that isn't growing so your taxes won't grow much try Pullman, Walla Walla, Grey's Harbor, Seaside, Omak, or Collville.

You would be surprised at how nice the folks are in the Dakotas, and it may be losing population, as industry is slacking, and corporations are buying the farms that have to be sold to pay the estate tax. But it is a good place to grow your own fuel and use wind and solar. (and to build a 'dug-out' for a house, as in The Little House on the Prairie)

SK is just northwest of ND a few KM... between Manitoba and Alberta. Low population, but again, extremely kind people.

I have found a few counties in WA that do not have ANY traffic lights, that is mandatory for me, but... I can't swing it on zero income, medical care gets to be a hassle when driving a few hundred miles for treatments, but hopefully I can avoid that issue. Our neighboring county has some areas of 2hr response times for EMT's, hopefully I'll be checked out by the time they would arrive. ... Being an old person and all...

WOULD THAT AREA IN WASHINGTON BE CUSTER, WHATCOM CO. OR SKAGIT CO?

and Skamania in SW
Maybe Columbia in SE, but I think there is a light in Dayton

definitely not Whatcom or Skagit !! we are talking ZERO traffic lights, tho blinking yellows are ok, just NO christmas trees - red, yellow, green (i.e. long waiting times)

Pend Oreille has been pretty low (also also has fiber optics !!), but like Skamania they are losing timber $$ and life (taxes) could get rough.

Pend Oreille County? I think only Astoin County is anymore remote. I'd still say Pullman. It has a medical facilities, lights, and its just remote enough outside town. No rapid tax increases either.
