I will be working in Marysville/Lake Stevens area. However, I would like to live closer to Seattle. I'm single so not concerned about schools. What would be a good place that I should consider? Not a crazy long commute, and somewhere with a little nightlife, if possible.

I was thinking about Lynnwood (maybe?), but hopefully someone could help me figure this out. Thanks! I'm thinking that due to going against traffic I could live a little more south of work than if it was the other way around, but don't know how much.

It's been a few years since I've lived in the area but, yes, if you'd like somewhere between Marysville and Seattle, Lynnwood might be convenient. However, I'll just throw this out (and again, this was a few years ago), I had to do about two weeks of commuting from Seattle's eastside to Bellingham and in the morning, I'd frequently run into northbound traffic jams going towards Everett. Most of the traffic was headed toward the Boeing plant but for some reason, traffic sometimes wouldn't start smoothing out until passing through the middle of Everett. So it's not necessarily a reverse commute.

I'll let others comment on the nightlife issue as I'm way past even wanting to go out at night any longer.

I don't think of Lynnwood as having a nightlife, other than teenagers hanging out at the mall.
A better choice would be Ballard. There are few good commutes in this area, and as mentioned Boeing Everett has many commuters clogging up the highway from Seattle to Everett. Bad in the morning, worse in the evening.

I figured I wouldn't find much nightlife in those areas, but just somewhere that just isn't all single family homes and malls. Thanks for the info about Ballard, it seems just a tad bit far for me. Trying to find commute that is 30 minutes or less without traffic (I'm fine with the commute taking longer with the traffic). I just feel that Ballard is about 45 minutes without traffic so could easily be an 1hr15minutes or more with traffic.

Any info on the areas north of Ballard between Lynnwood?
