Don't you live in Alaska? Are Californians moving to Alaska?

So yes, you live in Alaska.

I've been here twenty years and have never lived in CA though I travel there all the time. Grew up in Denver and when we came here Bellevue was a tiny downtown with little more than a mall.

I'm sure Inkpoe and Ira are even more amazed at the changes.

Going back even further I remember the Bellevue of the 50s and 60s...talk about change!

Exactly, newcomers don't realize just how recent this new Bellevue is.

I know some Alaska snow birds... they winter in Carmel each year... never long enough to establish residency...

Washington is not California... it does have a lot of things politically in common with California and Oregon being they are all West Coast states...

Yes, I saw the photos. I can't even imagine. Bellevue had a lot of strawberry fields in the 50s. When I go to the Mercer Slough, I try to imagine it being unbuilt. But yes, Bellevue is definitely different from the 80s.

Its not just Bellevue that experienced the changes. The Seattle area is pretty overgrown now (though not yet on the level of the Californian cities). The traffic proves it. I was just remembering a conversation I had with my teacher when I was 8 (some 20 odd years ago). I asked her where she lived. She tells me she lives in Shoreline. I attended school right by the airport. So of course, I was like Ooh, you must deal with a lot of traffic. "Nah, its only 35 minutes from here to there." Can we sit down and laugh at how absurd that is now? Never will happen now.
