What do you mean by "Snohomish"? Do you mean the actual little town of Snohomish, or just the county? If you mean the county - then we need to know which city within Snohomish you are talking about.

Snohomish is a cute little town but highway 9 and 2 are awfull. Check Monroe---it has a new YMCA and is growing. I work with a girl that just moved there and she loves the people and the area. She also has acouple kids and she said the school system is good. Highway 522 out of Monroe can be ugly but I would take it over 9 or 2. Those two areas are low in crime as I live close by and checked it out before we moved here. Your options for shopping are almost endless as you would be close by lots of areas as the Seattle area is not as spead out as Denver.

We used to live in Snohomish, and go back fairly often. Great little town! We did not live in Snohomish proper, but rather in the area by Everett and Mill Creek. If you look at a map, this area is is bordered by hwy 9 and 128th. The schools were very good, and a few new schools are being built right now. Not knowing your pricerange or anything, I will go out on a limb anyway and recommend an excellent neighborhood...Gold Creek. I would move back there in a heartbeat...the community is just great there. If you have any other questions, just ask.

I would totally agree with Gold Creek. I used to have a close association with Gold Creek Community Church and just love that area of Bothell/Mill Creek. But has it ever changed in the last few years! As "lifes2short" says, there is a brand new school being built (if I'm not getting confused with somewhere else it's at the end of 128th street right near Highway 9). Am I right? Around that area too is Silver Firs which is a somewhat older development but still very nice plus tons of new developments. Depends on what you can afford of course. This area tends to be pricey. Parts of Snohomish itself offer more affordable properties as do Monroe and Lake Stevens. The city of Snohomish itself offers some local shopping, but the largest Mall is Alderwood in Lynnwood and a smaller one in Everett. You can find some of the national chains in Monroe and Lake Stevens. The link to the Snohomish school district is: Welcome to The Snohomish School District. Hope this is some help. And welcome to this gorgeous area of the Pacific Northwest. I hope you love it here as much as I do.

Aussiegal--Yes, you are right. Two schools actually...an elementary and the new high school. We left just a couple years ago and go back often. It still feels like home. We probably know a lot of the same people from that church! And you mentioned Alderwood Mall...very nice after the remodel! Silver Firs is actually in the Everett School District, even though it is adjacent to Gold Creek and The Falls, so at first glance you would assume it would all be the same.

Wow "lifestooshort"! We probably do know some of the same people. And I hadn't realized that Silver Firs is in the Everett School District. I actually have two lots of friends - an agent in my office and one of the assistant pastors from Gold Creek - who own homes in Silver Firs. And of course the church is close by. Hope this info (re schools) helps, Nea1.

I always give people the Everett Herald as a good starting source for the area. Their address is: HeraldNet - Snohomish County's Online News Source. When you look for apartments there, you will also see links to other apartment sources for the area. You can also do a search online for "apartments in snohomish" for example. All the best.
