Wow!

You really are quite rude, aren't you?

To the OP:

While I don't live all that far from the area you and your family are thinking of moving to, I can't offer much insight as I have only visited that area a few times (I don't get out much ).

So, I will leave the advice and suggestions to those who can speak more from personal, and more in depth, experiences.

But, I do want to welcome you and your family to this state. I, for one, think it's awesome and I hope you will, too.

I live between Port Angeles and Sequim. I've been here since December, 2011. I love it here! I'm a single woman, retired and I've had no trouble making friends with the locals. Some go back three or more generations, others are newcomers like myself. I've not seen any of the negatives that have been mentioned in previous posts. I visit Port Townsend often and love it! I shop in Sequim (Costco, Home Depot, Petco, Walmart) and frequent Port Angeles as well. I enjoy hiking as the area has great trails. I love fishing and collecting shellfish and crabbing. There are so many festivals and concerts in the summer its hard to decide which venue to go to as some dates overlap. In the winter, I attend many community theater events, including stage plays at the high schools. There's plenty to do in the winter if you're into creating art, workshops, lectures, taking classes, etc. The pot smoking comments on previous posts were way off the charts! I've not seen it and I'm out and about. Most venues are family friendly and people here are friendly! I've not seen pretentious people here except for a few visitors on vacation, but they're in the minority. I think this area is a great place to raise a family. The only major drawback is the lack of lucrative employment opportunities. If you're in the healthcare profession, no problem. If you can conduct your own business on the internet, no problem. Retail jobs pay about $10.00 per hour here, prison guard supervisors make about $18.00 to $20.00 per hour, not very good pay for supporting a family on unless both parents are working. Many of my friends have rental properties and the extra income helps them greatly as long as you get good tenants. I see small businesses come and go. The ones that make it have a good location, good product and excellent customer service. I guess that holds true no matter where you live.
