The ocean in LA is 66 degrees and doesn't feel cold. Lakes in Seattle reach 73 which is perfect.

Very informative feedback, though I had to google Lowlands. I wasn't aware of lakes around Seattle except for Puget Sound.

Just within 5-30 minutes of my home in Sammamish:

Lake Sammamish
Pine Lake
Beaver lake
Lake Alice
Ames Lake
Cottage Lake
Echo Lake
Rattlesnake Lake
Langlois Lake
Lake Joy
lake Kathleen
Lake McDonald
Lake Boren
Phantom Lake
Paradise Lake
Crystal Lake

and probably more I have forgotten. We have a lot of lakes.

Puget Sound is not a lake, it's an extension of the ocean. To the east of Seattle is Lake Washington. There are plenty of lakes, rivers, swimming holes and beaches in the Seattle metro, it's kinda hard to not find any opportunity for swimming options (in the summer).

It probably depends on the time of the year. Lake Washington was pretty cold when we suddenly had a heat wave in the spring.

Yep, Seattle metro area do have a lot of small lakes scattered around the region. in Seattle alone has at least 5+ lakes, mostly in North Seattle. Green Lake, Bitter Lake, Haller Lake and some others, I forgot.

Of course, the lake is in the 50s in April and in the 70s in August.

In the summer, it's not that bad. Ocean is the worst place to go swimming, even in the summer time. The deeper parts of the ocean is about 50-60 degrees in the summer, 45-52 degrees in the winter.
