advice anyone ...
I am seriously considering WA state after graduation. I have been trying to compare the Vancouver area to the Tri-cities. I am currently living in hell, er I mean Phoenix and can't wait to move! Can anyone give me some information between the 2 areas in regards to avg price to rent a house, differences in weather, and also I will be graduating from nursing school and am very concerned with having "open" job opportunities after I move. Any info I will greatly appreciate!
Thanks!

I was born/raised in Phx - have been in Spokane for 4 yrs now.
I don't recommend it here - both husband and I are in the health care field, like you.
Tri-cities will remind you too much of Phx, dry and HOT in the summers! I'd certainly go the Vancouver route!
Beautiful area, and lots of jobs!
I'm hoping to move in the direction of Portland someday in the near future. A great "green" city, good public transportation, and friendly people.
Good luck to you!

You'll find a ton more job opportunities in Vancouver and Portland than you will in the Tri-Cities. Housing is more expensive, but you get what you pay for in increased job availability and a more vibrant city nearby.

NWpeace and Sean are right -- if you don't like the weather in Phoenix, stay away from east of the Cascade Mts. in Washington and Oregon. It's hot hot hot and dry dry dry there.
Vancouver, WA is beautiful, friendly, thriving. To get a feel for Vancouver, you should read their local newspaper, The Columbian Columbian.com - Serving Clark County, Washington
You can start studying about rentals and jobs in their Classifieds.
The best of luck to you as you put form to your ideas, and congratulations on having such a fabulous dream! Rock on!

If Phoenix is hell, the Tri-Cities will remind you of everyday. It's hot and brown in the summer, cold in the winter. I drove through Richland last summer, one reader board showed the temp being 107. Fark that.
Vancouver has a much more forgiving climate. It gets up in the 80-90s in the summer, but it stays green. Winters are more like an extended early spring. Cloudy everyday, rain often, it snows once or twice as well. That usually melts within a day if not a few hours.
Vancouver has two large hospitals that are always looking for nurses (I know a couple and they tell me they are always hiring), and if you can't find work here, Portland is right across the river.
