Are there anytowns near Forks, or in that rainforest area that are nice? I need something near Forks because of the proximity to the prison. I really want to live in a forest setting, but you guys sure dont make Forks sound like the place to be. Suggestions?

There are no cities worth mentioning in between Forks and Port Angeles. The area is as remote as Molokai if that puts things into perspective for you

It does actually I love molokai. Id move there if it wasn't so racist. Thats actually what Im looking for. As long as theres a town...no matter how small...and I can communte to a Whole Foods and Wal-marton occasion I'm happy.

Cinhawaii, Whole Foods stores in WA are in: Bellevue, Redmond, 2 in Seattle, Vancouver. That's it. Also, they're wildly expensive, IMO. However, the QFC supermarket which has a branch every time you blink your eyes in western WA, has quite a variety of excellent organic produce.

Thanks for the advice. I didn't mean I NEED a Whole Foods, I just meant some place like that. Not even just for the organic options, but the vegetarian selection. I will definately check out Stevenson though

all the big chains have fairly large organic sections (even Safeway)... It may not be Whole Foods but at least you'll have something available no matter where you end up.

I'd agree. You will have far more choice of produce in Washington than Hawaii. No getting your vegetables and fruits wrapped in plastic here

What about Steilacoom, Anderson Island... and McNeal Prison?

I like Stevenson too, but sounds like you wanted to be real near an urban area with Seattle culture (a bit more intensely PNW than Portland... Coffee vs. micro brewery's). Portland is 45 Min from Stevenson if that is close enough. I don't know of any large prison systems there but plenty of violent crime for its size (a Skamaniac thing). The windsurfing and hiking is good, with a little bit of snow (like today!)

A little town that gets no credit is Westport, WA. (98595) it has the reputation of being a dark and rainy place but actually in the summer time the weather is just as good as most places on the westcoast. The restaurants are great and the beach is GREAT for beach combing. The town has updated dramatically in the past couple years. The docks have some great shops on it from hobbie enthusiaists to high end name brand shoppers. Also, head down to float 8 and grab some fresh (and when i say fresh i mean FRESH) right off the boat seafood like prawns and crab from SEAFOOD CONNECTION. have your live crab cooked for you right on the dock!! the night life is getting better also; half moon bay bar and grill and the local pine tree are great places to have a few drinks and dance. just lettin ya know that westport has definitly moved up in the list of places to visit in washington!!
