Hello everyone, I'm currently in California but will be moving up to Ellensburg for school in January. I currently work for Target and will most likely try to transfer over to the one in Yakima. I was there earlier this year and I know it's about 30 minutes drive from Ellensburg to Yakima, but my question is, how worried should I be about the pass and snow/ice and how will it affect my travel time? Again, I'll be living in Ellensburg and if the transfer goes well, I'll be working in Yakima. I also have a rear wheel drive two door car, will this be a problem in the snow and should I get another type of car, or will I be fine for the most part?

Yakima will get only a couple of feet total snow for the year, and mostly 2-3" at a time. Ellensburg gets more, about 30". It's more like 45 minutes in good weather. It would probably not be worth buying another car just for that trip, I would just make sure to carry chains, or not go when the roads are bad. It seems like a long commute, especially with studying. I'd look for something in Ellensburg.
