Camano Island
Anyone here familiar with north Camano Island? It appears to be a very pretty area with affordable homes. Are shopping, medical services, restaurants, etc., available in this area or is it more of a bedroom community? I notice there are some subdivisions and gated golf communities, as well as many places with acreage. (yes, I've been warned about Dufferz FIL, so I'll steer clear of him! :-) )
Still curious about Camano, especially the northern part. Seems like it might be a good place to check out for our upcoming semi-retirement. We'll be looking at Whidbey and Mt. Vernon as well when we visit in December.
Thanks for any info.

Yes, I retired here from all places, Sequim. I wanted a place closer to the airport, Seattle, etc. plus my boys live in the Mukilteo area. I have found Camano Island a wonderul place. The restaurants (the Camano, The Islander, Elger Bay Cafe) are very good. There is a clinic and doctors on the island just down from the Plaza area in the Community area compound. Brindles has fabulous meats and Camano Island Coffee Roasters has coffee to die for!!! Also, right across the bridge is Stanwood that has a larger clinic and quite a few more facilities to meet most of my needs. A short hop to La Conner and you're walking along the water front and window shopping many unique shops. The Camano Island State Park is top notch. What more can a person ask for?

Thanks for the information, Lindsay. Camano is still high on our list for these reasons and the ones you mentioned in your reply to my other post. We'll be there in about a month to check it out. Can't wait! :-)
We visited Sequim in July, and looked at a few houses, but felt it was a bit too far away from Seattle and family.
