You're talking a cost of living issue for the region and not what our PUD (or whatever) actually charges as a rate. I may be misunderstanding what you are saying, however (?). I would consider that if I moved there, but I would also consider the fact that my house payment would be about 2,000 a month cheaper. That's all I'm sayin'.

p.s. I'm from WA (not TX), so it has nothing to do with arguing "your choice or mine". I was looking at a statistic by a reputable "company". Last I heard CNN was still reputable.
And therein lies the pitfall in the statistical data. Are you comparing actual cost of living or just rate to rate? What is it actually going to cost me from these numbers....

It's not high compared to Europe but it's high compared to just about everywhere else in the US.
You're so right, I had forgot about the non-elected governor's new taxes that raised us from below average to above (... since I burn grease...and get 50 mpg...not buying fuel at the pump)

but with WA current high gas tax and average driver (12,000 miles / yr) would spend $42 extra per yr @ 20 mpg. (as compared to national average)

$42 is equivalent to my property taxes for 30.66 hrs of enjoying my WA home

Here is an article explaining just that, you will see Washington is one of the highest in taxes even though there is no income tax.

All of their calculations are done using statewide per capita averages... they vary so greatly in individual cases that they are not useful for making decisions. For instance... Texas has moderate property taxes when viewed on a per capita basis while having the highest in the nation as a percentage of appraised value.

It is best if individual circumstances are tested to compare cost of living for locations.
