I found that conservatives in Washington were as equally self righteous as liberals. Liberals in that state however are some of the least tolerant people I have ever encountered. The state as a whole is a political mess and everybody is trying to persuade or correct someone else. The republicans and democrats in Washington both have a sense of entitlement just different views of what that equals.

Idaho has a saying... "Who are our best friends? WA and OR voters that are sending hundreds of employers and millions in revenue source to ID every yr". I work in Regional economic development and business counseling in WA and OR. I see it happen every week.

Idaho is pretty small and has VAST area of wilderness, so it is not very pretty for their future either.

They do have a widely distributed populace and are still AG centric, so there is hope they can remain politically balanced. Boise Metro is getting scary big. (political clout),

I totally disagree with you here.

Although I agree that the political divide in Washington is getting worse and worse, I disagree that we are any worse than anywhere else. Liberals and conservatives seem to be developing more and more animosity towards each other everywhere in this country.

A simple test of that: go onto any of the main "home page" websites (MSN.com, for example), and click on a link to an article and then scroll to the comments section. Inevitably, no matter what the topic of the article, the comments almost always turn into a political insult-fest. And those people certainly aren't just from Washington.

Agreed... IMO it is actually worse elsewhere. Try being in a battleground state/Swing state... Everything is politically charged. Lines in the sand...

This animosity we all feel towards each other is not a good thing...

"United we stand" is more like "Divided we fall"

The faster our nation declines the more divided we become. Both "sides" I believe want the same thing. It is just our diagnosis to the problem is different, hence the increasing animosity..

True Timbers:
It's bad in Washington, but the worst I've ever seen it is in Oregon. That 'line in the sand' you mentioned is so obvious there that you can almost go from one town to the other and feel like you've gone from a red to a blue state and vice-versa. The people almost seem to determine your politics within a minute after striking a conversation with them; and Heaven forbid you're on the other side! That goes for Moderates, too: they're hated by both sides equally.

Harrier moved from Seattle to California and has been a positive influence on the land of fruits and nuts, though it is negligible due to the overwhelming liberalism that permeates this once great Golden State.
Lumping all Cali transplants as the problem in not representative of the truth.
