Default Washington and MS

I have heard that Washington has the most cases of MS of all the states and they do not know exactly why. Is this true?

Actually, the entire PNW as a region has a very high rate of MS per capita. There's a theory that the damp weather and lack of sunlight may play a role. My husband grew up in Oregon and has 5 classmates who have developed MS since high school and two who developed it while still in high school. That's a LOT of MS cases.

Is this just for the west side of the Cascades? Would like to see some stats on this.

I plan on moving back only to the "dry side" this time.

Do you know if the damp weather and lack of sunlight can cause arthritis problems to become worse and possibly cause someone to get MS? This is really important to me.

Since no one knows what causes MS, you are asking for pure speculation. There is a statistical increase in MS cases all along the 40th parallel. Why? No one knows.

It has been shown that inflamatory compounds in the body do increase when atmospheric pressures drop in advance of a front, so a place with lots of fronts might increase the pain associated with arthritis - the "trick" knee phenomena.
