I'd recommend looking just east of the Cascades: around Wenatchee/Cashmere, Ellensburg, Leavenworth, Roslyn/Cle Elem.

We are tired of sun/heat/desert or similar to desert conditions. We love the rain, especially in places where it harbors tall trees and a green landscape most/a great deal of the year. I do not mind wind, however it must not be in combination with a dusty/dry area.

Somewhere with a nice cool winter.. preferably not snow for 8 months. Rainy is nice, clouds are nice. Not 90 degrees every day 6 months of the year. And not sunny for more than half the year. Where I am at now it had rained two times this year. As long as there are rain/clouds/snow... seasons even... and some nice landscape to look at, that will suffice. I will check out the areas you mentioned, thank you

My husband and I are in our 20s and are going to college. My husband is a recent combat vet and is using the GI bill. He is also disabled. Until he finishes school (probably for green construction/welding/etc) we will be supported this way, as well as by my generous family who supports my higher education as well (ecology/forestry) and supplements our income. Unfortunately this income is not sustainable in southern CA where we pay 1600+ in rent for a very modest 2 bedroom apartment, more for utilities, about 500+ in gas (because theres no way to go anywhere to avoid traffic, even if its just for groceries). That does not include car payments, other bills, food, our dog, etc.

While we do not plan to buy land right away, we would like to at least get a feel for the area/the people/the adventure/the outdoors where we are thinking about making a bigger commitment before we go all in.

I read your other post in the WA forum & your CA posts as well. Based on what you have said, it sounds to me like Bellingham would be for you. Please read my response in your other WA post, and ignore the preachy ppl.
