Question Knowledge Needed! Kitsap County

I am living with my daughter and her family in Port Orchard and I love it but I need to eventually be out on my own. Everything I own is in boxes in the garage and I MISS MY STUFF! I am living on Social Security and a small child care allotment for my grandbaby whom I full time nanny. I would probably qualify for low income housing but I haven't signed up yet. Does anyone have any suggestions on speeding up that process after I sign up? I don't want to live in Bremerton..I'd like to be in a little house of my own between Bainbridge and Port Orchard, preferrably near some water? (I know, dream on). My son-in-law will be working in Bainbridge and can drop the baby off to me wherever I find a place. I am a really good housekeeper, have no animals, I'm clean, single and would take very good care of someone's property. I don't like shared living arrangements...I'm used to living alone and require my own space. It doesn't have to be big, can even be a large mobile home if it's not too old. Even a small little cottage that's one huge room, is fine with me.
Does anyone have any suggestions? This is my first posting...I'm brand new so be easy on me, ok?

The City you eliminated might be the best for you...East Bremerton is very nice/quiet/peaceful but yet offers view properties near the sound that can be rented cheaper than anywhere else in the vicinity near Bainbridge/Port Orchard. I saw a 1 bedroom guest house on West Bainbridge Island a few months back for rent at $1350.00 about 500 sq ft..facing Illahee section of Bremerton it was rented 1 day later when I called for more details...Good luck

You might want to consider being a nanny for other families to supplement your retirement.
I can't imagine anyone being able to live on that low of an income. Good luck to you.
Heck I thought we had it rough here in Montana. At least here a person can rent a two Bedroom house for $350.00 and combined with low cost senior meals at the senior center a person can get by on a small income. Don't bother trying to get public assistance while you are living with relatives unless you want to drag them and their incomes into the application process. If you are on S.S. you are allowed to earn a certain amount of money on the side. Doing hand craft work and nannying are common ways for a retiree to make a few extra bucks. It's hard to imagine how rough it is to go without food for a couple of days or to have to walk to the store on icy streets without sidewalks in freezing weather, without really experiencing it for your self.
I know very well what it's like to be poor I've had to live in cars even while working a decent job in some parts of the country and being fully retired from work when you get older just isn't in the picture for many. Like they say, "When poop becomes valuable poor folks will be born with-out poopers" !
