You might try Santa Fe again. The winters are a lot milder than they used to be. Most of the winter, the roads are clear, no snow. And when it does snow, it's light. It doesn't get deep, like it used to. Summers are warmer, but last summer was cool, with daily rain showers to keep temps down. This summer is shaping up to be the same. It was cooler last summer in northern NM than it was in the Bay Area. That's unusual, but it looks like it may be the new trend.

I don't know about the colleges in Washington, but in Oregon, out-of-state fees are backbreaking. It's probably the same in Washington. Once you register as an out of state student, you pay out of state fees for the entire 4 years.

If your daughter wants to go to college, I suggest that you move soon enough to establish residency before enrolling for college.
