I'm also glad that you posted again...did your husband find work? Your experiences can help others who want to relocate.

My husband found work right away. We knew it wouldn't be a problem, as he's done only one job for the last 26yrs
We've seen a bit of houses, and most are manufactured homes, but at least 10yrs old. So we looked at putting a new one put on land. Thought we had something to set all up yesterday. we found another 20k in additional expenses. I have to say, make sure you get ALL the price pieces (no surprises) at once.
Personally, I'm dying to move on and get something going. But this guy at the manufactured homes place is really jerking us around I think. So in financial (and emotional) turmoil at the moment.

^^Yes, they stick it to flat-raters off the I-5 corridor...notorious for it. Have him put some apps in at the West Hills Auto Mall...we know someone doing ok, not great, but better than at the independents, or chains...better still with ASE certs.

Don't feed the raccoons, or the geese, or the ducks...

Firestone is pretty much bottom of the barrel. Hopefully he can use that as a stepping stone to something better. Because you're marooned on the wrong side of the Sound, pay-rates/wages are lower. Tend to be higher in King County, but so is everything else. Maybe look at Port Angeles - wages won't be any better, but costs are lower. Kitsap is basically a low-rent (for Seattle!) bedroom community.

We do our best to tell people that the NW isn't Valhalla, but they keep coming anyway (part of why the rents and real estate prices are so outrageous).

The good news is you shouldn't have to cover-up much longer - October-to-May cloud-cover is just around the corner.

Here's to hoping! On the not covering up that is.
Why not feed the raccoons? Even back home in VA I've always fed the local wildlife. Had squirrels, raccoons, and possums.
And WA has always been my piece on Earth. At least in the US anyhow. I've been taking holiday out here since I was 18, and love it. Just not as easy when nothing seems to work out as 'planned'.
