I'm thinking my best bet is to go through a temp agency. I haven't had much luck going through the usual channels like Craigslist. At least with temp agencies, I've had some success in getting hired on to jobs in fields I had no previous experience in. But I'm having trouble finding one that caters to the Everett area. I think maybe my Google skills are lacking, because I know there are a ton of warehouses in that area. Can anyone recommend a good staffing/temp agency they've used?

Have you actually been there looking? I don't see many warehouse jobs advertised, but I see "now hiring" signs on the premises. Perhaps they don't bother advertising. More of them are in the Kent/Auburn/Renton area.

I just looked at ESD's labor summaries for King County and Snohomish County. Long story short, the manufacturing and warehousing sector DECLINED in Snohomish County 1 percent in the past year. By contrast, the manufacturing and warehousing sector INCREASED in King County by nearly 2 percent in the same year. My suspicion is that the dip is temporary and is largely dependent on the swings that Boeing makes in the labor market. If that is the case, there may be a temporary glut in the labor market in the Everett area.

The temp agencies are usually well connected to the warehouses in question, so before you fire up the car and head to South King County (which, by the way, does have a very strong warehousing sector right now), I'd call up the usual suspects ... SmartTalent, Labor Ready, etc.
