OMG you had to mention Miners. Grew up on Miner burgers and so miss it. There are no good burger places here in Vancouver washington. All the Locals here that have been here there whole life flock to burgerville and I absolutely can't stand the place. can say out of the almost 12 yrs. I have been here in SW washington I have been there only a few times. But miners makes me hungry and homesick at the same time.

How about salmonberries? They look like a golden raspberry but are a slightly different variety.

For a great Washington cheese, don't forget "Cougar Gold!" It is made by the food science students at Washington State University. It is the best!!! You can find some in Pullman or Spokane as you head west, or on their website at www.wsu.edu (seach "cougar gold.")

Another place for clams is the infamous Ivars on the Seattle waterfront. Great ambiance, as well! Eat in, fine dining...or get some and sit outside on the pier. Stroll through the Pike Place Market to find many local culinary delights! They "throw" fresh fish (you'll understand if you visit) that you can pick up and grill! Buy some smoked salmon, or some local cherries, apples, apricots, peaches and pears...all of Washington's bounty! Enjoy!

Whiskey crab soup from the Cliff House! Mahi-Mahi at Anthony's! Last year I discovered these locally made dry soups out of Kittitas County... (I love making soups in the winter)... from Rill Foods from Thorpe. I guess it's a local lady there that makes them in her home. This last year, I was told, she had a fire in her house and is trying to reeestablish. I would go by the Thorpe produce and buy several at a time. They come dry and already to put together. All you do is add water and meat! They are the best soups.... www.rillsonline.com

Great thread! Got me hungry!

I'm not sure, really. The grow wild around greater Seattle, but you do see them in shops. Maybe the Pike Place Market or an upscale grocery? They should be coming into season now.

Did anyone mention the Fair Burgers at the Puyallup Fair? You can smell the onions cooking all over town.

(now living in New Mexico, but remembering those onions!)
