Question Marysville question

Hey, just wondering if any of you are familiar with Marysville--particularly the area around Carroll's Creek Landing (military PPV housing). It's right off the 5, at 25th ave NE, I guess only "minutes" from the Target (major selling point on the location!! )

Any other stores? It'd be nice to have a decent mall, or at least a shopping center. We're coming from Lemoore, CA, where the most exciting thing (besides the naval base) is the Kmart, or a 15 minute drive to Hanford, where there's actually a Target and an Old Navy (don't forget the Super Walmart!). So, even if Target is all there is, that's ok! We're used to more of a small-town feel, not a fast-paced big city.

I think that's where we've decided to live, but I wanted to get a feel for the area. We're not too worried about schools, as our oldest will be entering kindergarten AFTER we move (we're only stationed there for 2 years, then off to Pensacola, FL!!)

Thanks!
Stacy

Stacy, Hi: Even before I read your post I knew where you were from. My husband's aunt and uncle retired to Hanford after he retired from the navy at Lemoore. The thing I most remember about visiting them is a great ice-cream parlor downtown Hanford that sells Pineapple shakes.

Anyway, my office is at Smokey Point just across the freeway from the new Target, Office Max or Depot (forget which), Michaels, Costco, PetSmart, and tons more. Then there's Red Robin restaurant and others like Subway etc. - it seems that there is something new opening constantly which is to say that there is still room for more. They are all kind of scattered about, not a typical strip mall. However, further south off I-5 in Marysville there are Kohls and Wal-Mart, and a real mall in Everett further south yet. The really big mall (Alderwood Mall) is in Lynnwood which is south of Everett.

East of the freeway at Smokey Point there are tons of restaurants, gas stations a grocery store and other shops. They're all more or less scattered about too, be it strip mall or individual stores.

There is no dearth of shopping venues here - you'll love it. We moved here from a very small town in Wisconsin where the nearest mall was 2 hours drive. It's not like that at all. Hope this helps.

Thanks for the info!

Small world, huh? I really didn't like it here when we first moved here, but we've met some great friends, found a wonderful church, and it really started to grow on us. Of course, that would be when we find out we have to move!!

Thanks again!

There are some great churches in this area too so don't despair on that count. I also know how it is to just feel settled and then have to uproot. But I know that you'll find your nitche here too - I always found it works if people don't reach out to me, I reach out to them. It took me a while to figure that out, but it does work. All the best.
