For very early start on summer holiday planning, I'm looking for a very recommended and beautiful place to stay on Orcas for maybe 4 (or 5) nights or so. Two adults, two teens. Seems if on island should be on or overlooking water. Kitchen/kitchenette also. Thanks in advance for suggestions.

A few years ago we stayed at West Beach Resort; cabins right on the water. Cozy but comfortable. We were there more in the off season (early October IIRC) so things were pretty quiet, probably much busier in the summer. We enjoyed our stay there and would stay there again.

Thanks westslopeguy - it seems pretty nice, though appears to require a 7-day night stay during the summer season. I would like to consider no more than 5 nights, at the moment.

OK, maybe try All Dream Cottages; we stayed at their little place right on the water our 1st trip to Orcas. Can't remember the name of the place, and it's too small for you (just works for a couple) but the people who owned it have some other places on the island as well. Don't know about any minimum night requirements they might have, but worth a look anyhow.

Thanks again westslopeguy.
My preferences would be: i) by water; ii) hot tub available; iii) kitchen/kitchenette; iv) wifi internet (what can i say about last one - forgive me)

It depends on how much you have to spend. A lot of people like Rosario's resort. On the water, and they have boating and, I think, horseback riding. Good for kids, because it offers those activities. It's also near Moran State Park, where there's a lake for freshwater swimming (with lifeguard), hiking, a scenic overlook at the top of Mt. Constitution, with views all over the islands and into Canada. I don't know if they have kitchenettes, you can check with them.

I've come up with this list of lodging below.
Any experience with them, good and bad, would be helpful to narrow down.
1. Pebble Cove Farms (south, massacre bay)
2. Salish Seaside Escapes, owl room (eastsound in north part)
3. Doe Bay R&R (east side of island)
4. Deer Harbor Cottage (Bluff Cottage, Harbor View suite) (south side)
5. Rosario Resort (eh)
6. Smuggler's Villa Resort (eastsound).
