Currently live in Georgia.

Relocating to Washington end of the year.

What will l need to switch over tag and drivers license?

Do l need to lease my new rental asap?

For the new drivers license, will l need to retake road test+written test?

My current Georgia DL is good but expires new year.

Appreciate all your help.

Generally, tab + license within 30 days without retesting, though there are exceptions

What do you mean "Do I need to lease my new rental asap?" ???

So no tests as long as it's within 30 days?

Will they require paper proof of residency? Was thinking lease might be an option.

Appreciate your help.

You have 30 days once you establish residency here to get your driver license, register your vehicle(s) and get new plates.
By "establish residency", I assume that would simply mean finding a place to live that will serve as your primary residence. It would not include time staying with friends or living in a hotel, extended stay suite, or hostel, while looking for a residence.

You can use your expired GA license as proof of identity as long as it is within 60 days of its expiration date.

Generally no re-testing.

I see what you mean about lease. I don't know precisely. For car registration, need local address to fill out form (where later renewal mailing go to), but I don't think need proof of address.

Issues are quite technical, so go to state web site as they provide specifics; I think web links are provided above.

Must l show proof of residence

Can l just give them my social?

Their site says

Show your Social Security Number (SSN) or proof of current WA residence address
If you have a SSN…
You don’t have to show proof of residence. We verify your SSN with the Social Security Administration and use it to help enforce child support laws.

Basically, you declare yourself to be a resident by providing a local address. They only require that you verify your address if you don't provide a SS#.
