Scirocco,
You have my word, I will post frequently on a Vancouver/Clark County sub-forum. As it stands now, I read and post more frequently on the Portland site, there's actually quite a bit of discussion about Vancouver there, often maintaining Page 1 discussion interest. I've found it a bit frustrating to sort through "the rest of Washington" threads for discussions about Vancouver/Clark County.

This makes the most sense to me.

I vote for this!

I understand, Suzer. Ok, thanks, that's good to hear!

AGAIN, Botev, it ain't gonna fly! The Administrator has told me time and time again that he doesn't want large geographical areas to have their own sub-forums.

I don't understand why the Administrator doesn't want it. The Seattle area is not only King County, so it should be either the entire Seattle metro area or just the city of Seattle. Only King County doesn't make sense. Or if it is only King County the sub-forum name should be King County not Seattle area

Look, I'm not referring to the Seattle forum, I think we can expand that a bit. However, the previous poll did not reflect your sentiments. Most wanted only King County included in the "Seattle Area" forum.
The Administrator specifically doesn't want a large geographical areas such as "eastern Washington" as a sub-forum. He says that it will sometimes result in lower traffic and when he's done it in the past, he's had to merge them back.
I'd just as soon have the state split up as Brightcopperkettles suggested too but the Administrator is not going to go for such large geographical areas as sub-forums. NO state is set up that way now.

I'm going to quote excerpts from a DM I sent to a member:
Quote:

Yes, I know that all areas in King county might not be considered part of the Seattle area. Sure, Skykomish isn't part of the Seattle area even though it's in King County. But where do you draw the line? Is Carnation or Algona part of the Seattle area? And Edmonds or Monroe might be more part of the Seattle area than Skykomish or Enumclaw but can't be included in this separation either. So that's why I just designated "all of King County" as the boundaries. There is no perfect solution.

If we were to use your desired cut-off, would Ft. Lewis be a part of the Seattle metro area? Would Marysville? So where would we be cutting off the boundaries in Snohomish and Pierce counties? You want Everett and Tacoma to be a part of the Seattle metro area but what about their suburbs? I don't really consider Lakewood or Steilacoom or Marysville or Lake Stevens part of the Seattle Area. So see, even under your desired boundaries, there's going to be problems and things that don't make sense.
|
If our re-structuring proposal goes through, I will see what we can do do expand the Seattle sub-forum to possibly include towns which might be close to the border to King county such as Edmonds, Mountlake Terrace, Mill Creek. I'm not so certain about Pierce County suburbs, though. Should Puyallup be considered a suburb of Seattle?

My opinion is this - everything south of Everett, north of Tacoma and west of Issaquah (including Everett, Tacoma and Issaquah) is Seattle area

Although the Seattle MSA includes King/Snohomish/Pierce Counties, our previous poll did not agree with your opinion of what the Seattle area sub-forum should include.

So you say Seattle area includes King/Snohomish/Pierce Counties but you are not sure about the suburbs of Everett and Tacoma?? That's why I tried this on the map. Edmonds and Lynnwood are much closer to Seattle than Skykomish, North Bend and even Issaquah. Also our previous poll didn't show anything because only 29 people voted - 12 for King County 8 for King/Snohomis/Pierce - very close

Ok, I'm not going to argue this anymore on what the Seattle sub-forum should be as this is actually a discussion for the entire state's re-structuring.
My argument is if we had all of King, Snohomish, and Pierce counties in the Seattle Area sub-forum, that some may not really consider Puyallup or Marysville, for instance, part of the Seattle "area." Do we want to be discussing Seattle neighborhoods like Queen Anne, Wallingford, Beacon Hill, etc., in the same sub-forum where threads are discussing Puyallup, Lakewood, Granite Falls, or Gold Bar?
And the poll numbers you are referring to, Botev, are actually 20 to 8 because there were an additional 8 votes for "Just King County Suburbs in Addition to Seattle" ...not as close as you suggest.
