Yes, Lynn, you are right about a lot of FL....it changed so much in the years I lived there....Palm Beach County....way too much growth. And I actually think there are more things to see and do out here in Seattle area (more of a variety) so I don't let the weather stop me. My husband and I took a ferry over to Kingston and had lunch in Poulsbo a few weeks back. What a neat little town......I understand why you love it. But I love being hot....the summers never bothered me in FL....of course, my yellow lab and I spent a lot of time in our pool cooling off!!!! It's so funny how weather affects people differently. Thank goodness my husband and I feel the same....we both like it hot.

Is there really a comparison?

You'd have to drag me kicking and screaming to Florida. Hot, humid and old.

Well, at least there's one bright spot of living in the PNW. None of those things.

Well, good then, it got your mind off the gloominess. See there are places far worse for you. And you are fortunate to not be there.

I have to ask, though, by "old" are you referring to the senior citizens that live in FL? They aren't such a bad bunch to be around. I supervised a volunteer program where I used to work....most of the volunteers were in their 70's and even 80's. They were sooooo helpful and interesting to listen to since they had many life experiences. Now I have to add that if we had to travel for any meetings, I was definitely the driver.

No, they're not bad, I just like a little more diversity where I reside.

Try bringing Spring and summer into your home all year round. I've noticed that dark panneling just heightens the "gloomy" feeling. But when we had a light colored paint, or bright colored one, it helped. Peaches, yellows and golds seemed to be the best for this, but it would be your presonal choice as to what made YOU feel better...

Yes light and bright colors seem to help. Plus open up those blinds or drapes everyday to let in some sunlight.
I have to take vitamin D as I am not getting enough of it.

I hate drapes and blinds. It makes me feel like I'm living in a cave. LOL If i can get away with it, I do't even have them up. A sheer or lace curtain, or none at all if the window is in a place where no one can see in not only lets in light, but nature as well. If you can make this area pretty with nice bright flowers (even fake ones) it will help. Sun catchers, whirliegigs, wind socks... If an area is protected out side, you can do a lot of things with it. If you can't work on an outside area, bring it on inside. Bright colored paint is a start, then get plants. (allergic? there are nice fake plants) then bring in your "pretties" and have fun. Anything that will brighten up your life helps, even to wearing a red shirt...
