The Spokesman-Review is the Spokane area newspaper. I believe they offer online subscription at www.spokesmanreview.com. Getting the paper might be a good start in familiarizing yourself with the area. If you could make a pre-move trip or two, set up ahead with a local realtor, that could be time well spent. You could see the "lay of the land" for yourself.

You'll like the weather here - much milder than the Dakotas.

The Sunday issue ot the spokesman classified ads will be your biggest help at this point. They have a full section of employment classifieds and real estate classifieds. There are tons of outlying areas that are within a half-hour-45 minute drive into town, depending on where you work and how long a drive you want. Remember that winter driving takes a little longer than other seasons, but I always say "it's worth the drive!" to be a little out of town.

Hello......Well, one thing about Spokane are there are lots of small towns surrounding it, if you choose not to live in the city itself. North is Mead,Deer Park.....Valley ( towards Idaho) is Liberty Lake,Post Falls....West is Airway Heights, Medical Lake, Cheney...and there are others.....Spokane is usually 4 seasons weather, yet are winters are becoming more mild over the past few years. I have been here 12 years from CA and love it....I live in one of thoses little towns on the west side.I hope you find good info and mine has helped also. Good luck to you!!!

Hi
I am hoping to move to Spokane by this summer. I presently live an hour north of New York City. I was wondering how the Spokane winters are.
I am not a lover of driving in the snow. Do you get a lot? Are they quick to clean the roads. I am really a big baby.

Default Winter weather in Spokane

This week is predicted to be in the 20's and below as low as -8 at night!! It's really really cold! But normally winters don't stay that frigid - we have a little snow on the ground that will melt as soon as it gets above freezing. We have had some really bright sunny days but also lots of grey and foggy days. Winter really kicks in in mid-November and goes through February. March can be hit or miss but does start to warm up. Snowfall varies year to year but we don't normally get huge accumulations of snow except for the piles that the snow plows make. Major roads are well maintained but inner city streets take a while to get plowed if the plows get backlogged. There are trucks that dispense sand and de-icer on roads, too.
If you're in NY, the weather here is probably very similar - I grew up in CT and it reminds me of weather back east, but not as humid. And summers are much drier and hotter.
