I Googled the town curious about what it's like there and got a bunch of hits for Longview gangs when I choose "images". I don't see any news hits though. Is this true? Maybe Google is giving me hits for Longview Texas, where I know they have tons of gangs. Most of the pics are of Hispanic and black gangs. Is there a gang problem in Cowlitz County?

Even down here in California we know of Longview as a drug center. Don't know about gangs tho. My best friends' kid moved to Longview and died of an OD.

You'll have to make up your own mind about what is "bad". I considered moving there, but in the end decided not to. Not because of crime or gangs, but because I decided I wanted to be nearer to my sister in seattle. And I'm pretty sure there are areas in seattle that are worse than longview.

(only half kidding). OP, you must have got the wrong Longview. I just Googled it, + "images" and got scenic views of a downtown on the river. When you Googled, didn't you include "WA" in your search terms?

I spent a bunch of time in Longview last year-it seemed perfectly safe and its sort of the major town for those in the SW corner of the state. West of Longview - is as nice an area as any in the US. All those places along the river.
