Librarian relocating
I am a school librarian with dog wanting to relocate to coastal Washington - Any recommendations? Job openings?

I don't know of any openings, but you should be aware that the coastal population is pretty sparce compared to the Puget sound area. Is your desire to be coastal personal choice or specific job driven?

I'm just chuckling because this posting could well have been made by a friend of ours. She spent a month driving up the coast on vacation, and decided this was the place. So she walked into the library, asked if there were any positions open, started a week later as reference librarian, and is now acquisitions manager of our county library system.
Hers wasn't a very organized job search; she simply walked into the right place at the right time, with experience and a strong resume. But I hope you find her story encouraging.

coastal choices
Thanks for the info and links for library work. Wonderful coincidence for your friend, Rodfarlee. I will be retired, and leaving the east coast. I am looking for a small community and to buy a cabin/cottage walking distance (a mile or so) to the shore. Any suggestions?

One of my favorite coastal towns is up on the north end of the penninsula, Port Townsend. It's an adorable town and very cool area. I love it!

How are the areas south, like Pacific Beach, Westport, Copalis and Hoaquim?

or better yet... on an island, They have a slower pace, and a strong contingent of readers who really appreciate a good library! (and the 'Island district' has great schools and commited parents / staff.)
