It might've been at one time or another. On my morning bus ride to work there were lots of little areas without power. Ours seems to have been out for perhaps as much as a couple hours during the night, failing sometime after 1:30AM. Interpreting the various stopped and restarted clocks, I think we had it back by about 4AM. There were traffic signals KO'ed as early as 5:30 last evening, though.

The Mission Ridge ski area closed down today because of winds up to 135 mph......isn't that a hurricane elsewhere??

135 MPH ??? ...for real?? Yeah, that is a typical wind speed of a hurricane!

Okay, more later.

Plus a well known seafood place was not as good as one would think. However we stayed at a friends cabin in Port Townshend and it was a beautiful area.
Thank you mad, that was very helpful. Good line, old people and their grandparents, hah!

Yeah, Sequim is located in a rain shadow out there on the Olympic Peninsula. Gets very little rain compared to other parts of Western Washington.

Okay, more later.

She's chomping at the bit to be free of the 'rents (er, that's mom and dad) but I'm the one who's not ready for her to be so independent.

She's got just about everything lined up, including a job! Doesn't she still need her mother?!

Shadow, most places have their down side. Today, western Washington is getting pounded by a storm. Tomorrow, SoCal could have an earthquake. The midwest could have tornadoes. The coastal areas could have hurricanes. New York could have... New Yorkers! Seriously, no place is perfect. Pick your poison, so to speak.

75 mph is a hurricane, a category one. I think 135 mph winds are a cat 3. Yikes!

Lived in the Bahamas for three years. All we talked about from August through October were hurricanes. Too much stress for me, will never live in a hurricane-prone area again.

Washington appears to be the weakest poison so I guess I'll go with that.

I guess I'm a little late for this thread, but having lived in Seattle, I think if money weren't the greatest concern Issaquah would be it. You can get right out into the woods there from town, the "Issaquah Alps" - low mountains.

Bothel has no character. Some of the Seattle neighborhoods are very nice, the neighborhoods there are very different from each other. I kind of liked Capital Hill, other people love Fremont or Magnolia.

Generally speaking within Seattle, the places north of downtown are more desirable (and have better drinking water) with maybe the exception of Alki - maybe there are nice places south, but I usually found it depressing just to go through there.
