Is it just me that finds the image funny....
Standing in front of a potential landlord with a wall of almost 500 pounds of pets (3 HUGE dogs and a cat), trying to sign up for a one bedroom apartment.

I just keep picturing the look on the landlords face.

Good luck with that!

I think it would be very hard to to rent with 3 HUGE dogs. We have two toy dogs. And three rescue cats. I would like to re-home the cats but husband won't hear of it. Got the cats shots today so they could be boarded. A lady there had TWO St. Bernards & a Mastiff. If I forget my clean-up bag on a walk I can pick up my toy dog's poop with a big leaf. Have done it in emergency.

I have traveled or lived in many places in the US and Sequim WA is one of my most favorite. Like any other place to live, it has its good and bad sides. I like that it is mostly a retirement community because that means that it is slower paced and more relaxing. Those who want for the more exciting and faster paced experiences can travel down to Olympia or over to Seattle. Both trips are through beautiful scenery. I like that there is lots of water, mountains, trees, green, and there even is a hot springs place. We are close to Victoria CAN and there is a ferry to take you there for the gardens and high tea.

Yes, we have rain here, and to save being overrun with settlers, for a long time we told visitors that it rained all the time so that they would not move here! It is grey in the winter and fall sometimes, kind of like Buffalo New York, and that can be a downer if you are from a sunny-all-the-time place. I have lived in the Pacific North West since 1978, and when I moved temporarily to Cupertino CA, I was driven crazy by the constant sunshine.

The planes and helicopters do travel overhead sometimes, but I have found that to be the case in several cities I have lived. Dogs are favored here, and many are not trained so they bark incessantly ... once again this can be found anywhere. The quality of life is relaxing, slow paced, healthy and beautiful.

There are jobs in the health industry mostly and there are, of course, many jobs to be found in fast food, department stores, caregiving and some of the lesser paying areas. But, that is the case in many of the slower more closer to nature areas of the country.

But, you are wise to investigate before you change. I, too, am an introvert and have been satisfied and happy living in the Pacific Northwest. Maybe you will too. This is such a diversified and heart satisfying area to live in - if you let it be. Since you last posted 2 years ago, you may already be here?

Isn't there some kind of science lab or research lab around Sequim, that could potentially have jobs, too? That rarely gets mentioned, but I'd like to know more about it.

You already asked that elsewhere, and I already answered. It is Battelle labs. I don’t see a research lab as being a large job generator (unless it is a big lab). Many jobs would required specialized professionals. Yes, there would be some support jobs open to those without degrees. They probably have to pass background and random drug tests, which seems to have become difficult in the US culture of increasing substance abuse,

The biggest employers in that are in that area (over 500 employees):

Naval Base Kitsap
State of WA
Harrison Medical Center
Kitsap County
Central Kitsap School District
Port Madison Enterprises (Clearwater Resort and Casino)

South Kitsap School District
Haselwood Auto Group (13 dealerships in Bremerton)

Fred Meyer
2 more school districts

Really only the naval base is a significantly large employer with 33,800, the next (WA State) is only 2,100 people.

Trump storm troopers? my, my.. a liberal/progressive impeach Trump coming from a Seattle citizen who most likely voted for a Communist on to the Seattle city council or Washington state nutcase Pramila Jayapal ...I have more concerned with storm trooper people from sanctuary Seattle and their over aggressive driving habits on our roads here on the peninsula.

FYI Clallam supported Trump in the 2016 presidential election over crooked Hillary. So your Trump storm troopers are already here wait for you to visit with our guns and bibles.
